El Pico del Águila (Eagle's Peak), also known as Cerro El Águila, is a mountain located in the Sierra Madre Oriental mountain range in northeastern Mexico. It is located in the state of Nuevo León, and is the highest peak in the state, reaching an elevation of 3,680 meters (12,073 feet) above sea level.
The mountain is a popular destination for hikers and outdoor enthusiasts, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscapes. The peak can be reached via several different trails, though the most popular route is the La Escondida trail, which starts in the town of La Huasteca.
The area around Pico del Águila is also home to a diverse array of flora and fauna, including oak and pine forests, as well as a variety of birds and mammals such as deer, pumas, and black bears. It is a protected natural area, and visitors are encouraged to respect the environment and follow leave-no-trace principles.
